Charlie Brown

Let me tell you, Mariann's family ate a LOT of cake that weekend - celebrating two birthdays. This one was for her husband, Doug, celebrating his fiftieth. This was a red velvet inside. Cream cheese frosting, and sssllllooooowwwww drawing on my part! But fun none the less, because I'm a big fan of ol' Charlie Brown myself. Happy, happy birthday Doug! And no, he didn't get a rock.

Card Cake

This was created for my friend Mariann. She wanted a fun cake with an Atlantic City theme, but small. I knew she wanted it to reflect the gambling aspect of the city, so I thought, what a great hand, to surround a great tasting cake! I made the "poker chips" out of fondant and icing.

Flower Basket

This was a small, oval cake with a basket-weave design. The basket is filled with royal icing flowers. . . a change from the real thing, and way better. These flower taste better than the real ones, for one . . .

Grandpa's Birthday

When you grow up in a Jewish household, spaghetti and meatballs is not on the list of dishes you learn to cook - or at least not the way they should be cooked when your inlaws are of an Italian descent. So I took my own way for my father-in-laws birthday! Chocolate cake, with cannoli cream filling. The meatballs are fondant rolled in cocoa powder, and the "gravy" is strawberry puree. This was fun to make, especially the noodles!
